What is a shower box?
The shower box is a separation between the wet and dry areas. Shower box surrounds the shower area and is installed with railings or curtain rods fixed with the ceilings or walls. The main purpose of a shower box is:
l To provide privacy
l To prevent water from flooding outside the bath area
l It makes the space more organized
l The other benefit of the shower box is that it contains the steam within the enclosure and creates a warm climate during your shower.
How to choose a shower box?
When shopping for a shower box, step into the shower box and stand with your back to the corner. Make a visual picture in your head of where your bathroom windows and doors are located. Imagine where other obstructions such as the toilet and lavatory are positioned. If the door is going to open on your left side, then you need a left-handed shower box. If it opens on your right, go for a right-handed shower box.
You must also decide what type of glass you want for your shower box. Popular choices include tempered glass, laminated glass, and coated glass. They come in a variety of designs such as clear glass, frosted glass, rain glass, cast glass, and colored glass. Standard glass thicknesses are 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, and 8mm.
